01 · About this document
These terms govern your use of the HQData website and any dataset licensed through it. HQData is a trading name of Starux GmbH, St. Gallen, Switzerland (company number CHE-172.944.998). By using the site or licensing a dataset you agree to the terms in this document as they stand on the date of your purchase.
02 · What we sell
HQData publishes small, manually verified datasets intended for training and evaluating machine-learning systems. Each dataset is identified by a stable call number (for example CTF-ZD-001). The exact contents, record count, and formats of each dataset are described on that dataset's page at the time of purchase.
03 · Licensing, not sale
Datasets are licensed, not sold. On payment, the licensee receives a non-exclusive licence to use the dataset for the purposes described in the countersigned licence agreement. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by HQData.
Tiers
Three standard tiers are offered: research (non-commercial academic use), commercial (internal training runs within a single organisation), and redistribution (derived datasets, evaluation suites, or resale). Custom terms are available on request.
04 · Permitted use
Unless your licence expressly permits otherwise you may use a dataset to train, fine-tune, or evaluate models within your own systems; to create derived artefacts (weights, adapters, evaluation reports) that do not reconstruct the source records; and to share aggregate statistics about model performance.
05 · Prohibited use
You may not redistribute the raw dataset, in whole or in part, unless you hold a redistribution licence. You may not publish individual records verbatim, host copies of the dataset on public mirrors, or use the dataset to build a service whose primary purpose is to regurgitate the dataset contents. Datasets containing security research are licensed for defensive, academic, and model-training purposes; using them to target systems you do not have authorisation to test is prohibited.
06 · Attribution
Public research outputs that rely on an HQData dataset should cite HQData and the relevant call number. Attribution templates are included with the licence.
07 · Delivery & access
On countersignature and payment, datasets are delivered via short-lived signed URLs, with SHA-256 checksums for verification. Delivery is usually within one business day. You are responsible for the security of the download location and for keeping the dataset within the licensed organisation.
08 · Payment & refunds
Payments are processed by Stripe in USD, EUR, or CHF. Invoices are issued automatically and sent to the billing email provided at checkout. Sample records and the full schema are available on the dataset page before purchase; because the full dataset cannot be meaningfully "returned" once delivered, licences are non-refundable after delivery. In case of a material defect Starux GmbH will reissue corrected data at no additional cost.
09 · Warranty & liability
Datasets are provided "as is" for the purpose of ML training and evaluation. HQData warrants that each dataset is materially as described on its page and in its schema. HQData's aggregate liability under any claim relating to a dataset is limited to the fees paid for that dataset. HQData is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
10 · Third-party content
Some datasets aggregate material originally published by third parties (for example public CTF writeups, competition prompts, open-source tool output). Where third-party rights apply, HQData's rights analysis and attribution procedure are included with the licence documentation.
11 · Changes
We may update these terms. Changes apply to licences issued after the update. For existing licences, the terms in force at the time of purchase continue to apply unless a renewal is signed.
12 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. The competent courts of St. Gallen, Switzerland have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence.
